Brussels, Belgium
I must be the guru of getting airfares because
through a glich in the airlines info bestfares.com
was able to get a fare of $200 roundtrip to Brussels from Seattle -- so
I jumped on it. This picture is from the main square of Brussels.
After renting a car we stayed in a different city every night and saw maybe
15 cities in 10 days. |
Ghent, Belgium
This was my favorite city on the trip because
of it's unpretentious attitude as a university city. It had the ancient
buildings and magnificent cathedrals without the huge tourist attraction
feel to it. Notice how close the windows on the houses in the picture
are to the water in the canal. The canals in Amsterdam
were very similar to this and they say that a car ends up in one every
day there. |

Anterpen, Belgium
This was the first city we stayed in on the trip.
The ease of travel with a car verses a bus or train should be balanced
with the difficulty of navigating towns based on structures around a circular
mazed fortress. For the amount of time lost waiting for buses and
trains the car was the most feasible way to go. |
Antwerpen at night
The cathedrals in each of the towns were magnificient
and boasted many famous and wonderful artists. |
